I often describe my carrier path in the tire industry as seven years making tires on the factory floor, the next seven years breaking tires in testing and R&D, and now checking tires that are used by our customers. This full circle has taught me a lot about how the tires work structurally and what typically gives in. I hope I can use the accumulated knowledge to benefit both the tire manufacturer as well as the end user. One of the most crucial things I want to talk about is the importance of the correct tire pressure.

The rising star of excavator tires, Nokian Tyres Ground Kare, is now available in size that fits smaller wheeled excavators in the 9–15-ton range. With the new size, Nokian Tyres continues to make excavator work easier – especially in cramped city areas, like worksites near households, yards, and such.

In a busy terminal, tire stability and long service life are key factors in making the work safe and efficient for reach stackers, forklifts and log stackers. The Nokian Tyres HTS G2 harbor tire family has been developed for this purpose, and its excellent stability, good grip and predictable service life has been impressing users for years. Now the HTS G2 family has a new member: Nokian Tyres HTS G2 L-5S, a new tire developed for reach stacker front axle use.

The Association for Finnish Work has awarded the Key Flag symbol to Nokian Heavy Tyres’ heavy-duty tires, wheels and retreading materials. The symbol can be awarded to products manufactured or a service produced in Finland, with a minimum domestic content of 50 percent of their break-even cost. Design from Finland mark indicates the products are designed in Finland – and the company has demonstrably invested in Finnish design.
