safe in winter

298328389 • 2 years ago

These tires are safe in ice and snow. These and Michelins are the best winter tires I have used. Oh, and kudos to Nokian for stopping production in Russia. That was costly but the right thing to do.

Just good

Canhug • 2 years ago

I bought a set of set for my Mercedes C300 AWD to replace my old winter tites Bridgestone Blizzack and comparing these with tge Blizzack i can only say that are OK, Good traction on snow but i would say poor handling on ice. The only real advantage iver the Blizzacks is that you can get these ones run flat. But overall i woukd say that Blizzacks are much superior

Angry finn • 3 years ago

First week under my car and you can feel every small bump in the road, and in slow speed the tires are humming... never these again!! I cannot take anyone to enjoy my new car with these tyres.

You literally feel like driving a tank!

Sparkle Armor Auto Detailing • 4 years ago

Highly recommend these tires for winter driving. We are Canadian based auto detailers and we carry this brand for our customers for this specific reason: best driving experience for snow and icy condition. The tires perform way better than other brands and the durability is very good.

Truly the best studless winter tires

kattlin • 5 years ago

These are unquestionably the best studless winter tires on the market—no contest. I see people unfavourably comparing them to the hakka 8 and 9 saying that those are better on ice... well duh. A studded tire will obviously out-perform a studless tire from the same manufacturer on ice; that’s just basic physics. If you live somewhere that has skating rinks for roads all winter, then get studded tires; however, I don’t want to listen to studded tires for the few days a year that the roads are a sheet of ice. These will out-perform every other studless winter tire on the market (and I suspect many studded tires as well). I personally think they are excellent on ice for a studless tire as well. I have driven several of the equivalent offerings from competitors—as well as the previous generation R2—and these tires are far-superior to all of them. I have driven these in all winter conditions (slush, deep and compact snow, ice, etc.), and they inspire nothing but the utmost confidence. They’re nothing special on dry roads, but that’s to be expected from a dedicated winter tire—these aren’t “performance” winter tires. Having said that, I can still have some fun with these on a dry road and feel perfectly confident in them at highway speeds. I am a big advocate for driving according to conditions, but I actually think that anyone who dislikes these tires has not pushed them hard enough. The levels of lateral grip in snow are astonishing. Go to a snowy parking lot and see how much grip these tires actually have, if you are not satisfied with them. The harder you drive, the more they seem to grip... and this is coming from someone who is normally a very timid winter driver. For anyone wondering, the vehicle that these are attached to is an AWD Alfa Romeo Giulia... a car that also handles the snow outstandingly well.

Excellent in every way

Gubbogubben • 5 years ago

Used these during 2018-2019 winter season here in Sweden on my 2007 Lexus LS600h. By far the best winter tyres I've had! Extremely quiet, smooth and with excellent grip and handling. Highly recommended!

Undecided

janis • 6 years ago

I bought a set of R3s a month ago. On dry and wet the tires are fantastic, good handling, quiet, very nice to drive. Then the first snow came and I could say, I am much less impressed. It is a bit had to compare because this season I also changed car. My old was S60 with some good nonames in front and good Haka 8 in the back, the acceleration in snow was decent and breaking was good, almost impressive. This car is A4 Quattro with R3s. The acceleration is good, probably because of quattro, but breaking distances seem to be at somewhat longer. I also feel that the ABS works a lot harder when breaking. I will probably get used to them, but spontaneously it feels to say that Haka 8 was better.

Remember

  • When selecting a tyre, always choose one that matches your usage in the best possible way. In addition to the three characteristics, there are a number of other factors related to safety, performance, and the environment that tyre developers and testers take into account.
  • Although the new label makes it easier to compare tyre models, you should also support your decision by consulting the following, for example tyre retail experts or independent magazine test articles.
  • The wet grip rating for a tyre does not indicate how suitable the tyre is for the real winter weather. Instead, it may be misleading and endanger traffic safety. In demanding and varying winter conditions, the most important safety characteristics for tyres are ice grip and snow grip.
