New Nokian Forest Rider rim size gives much needed efficiency and radial tyre comfort to smaller forestry machines

The Nokian Forest Rider, designed for CTL (cut-to-length) forestry machines, is the first functional radial tyre for professional forestry use. The size range of the tyre, which has won over users with its driving comfort, durability and supreme traction, will now expand. Resulting from meticulous development work at Nokian Heavy Tyres, the unique 24.5-inch new rim size offers increased mobility and load-bearing capacity to smaller forestry machines. The bigger size will also enable smaller machines to bear increasingly massive loads and make efficient progress in demanding harvesting jobs. The new Nokian Forest Rider rim size has a width of 650 mm.

The sturdy radial construction and tread pattern provide excellent grip and ensure strong traction across tough terrain. The tyre cleans itself easily and does not damage the soil, even in difficult conditions. The lightly rolling tyre works efficiently without tracks, but can also be used with them if required.

The Nokian Forest Rider features a radial construction combined with the patented side puncture protection. The puncture protection makes the product durable and safe in challenging conditions, without compromising any of the radial tyre's benefits. In comparison with a bias-ply tyre, the Nokian Forest Rider has better traction and running capacity and lower rolling resistance. The low rolling resistance also makes the tyre an environmentally sound and fuel-saving choice.

Thanks to its open-centre tread design and wide contact area, the Nokian Forest Rider moves effortlessly in the forest, yet is no stranger to hard surfaces, such as roads. Drivers of smaller forestry machines will experience the radial constrcution and the increase in the tyre diameter from the familiar 22.5 inches to 24.5 inches as less vibration, which ensures a pleasant driving response. Thanks to its excellent stability, the tyre keeps the machine firmly on the ground during loading and thus contributes to efficient, safe work.

Nokian Forest Rider size range:

650/45 R 24.5 161 A8/168 A2
600/55 R 26.5 165 A8/172 A2
710/45 R 26.5 168 A8/175 A2

Main features:

  • Wide contact area provides supreme running capacity and is gentle on the surface.
  • Radial construction ensures pleasant driving response and minimizes vibration.
  • Low rolling resistance results in lower fuel consumption.
  • Excellent traction, no need for tracks.
Naturally Nokian Tyres - A forerunner in environmental friendliness
Nokian Tyres is a pioneering tyre manufacturer in environmental issues. It was the first tyre company in the world to abandon toxic oils in its production processes and use purified oils only.

Tyre development focuses on durability and lower rolling resistance. The rubber compounds, treads and structures of special tyres withstand wear and tear, which, from the users' point of view, translates into many operating hours and functionality in demanding conditions. The lightly rolling tyres also reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Continued reduction of tyre noise is another challenge for product development.

Nokian Heavy Tyres is a world-leading manufacturer of special tyres. Its key product segment is forestry tyres. Other important products are special tyres for agricultural machinery and a variety of industrial machine tyres. Nokian heavy tyres are sold on both the original equipment and replacement markets. The company works in close co-operation with original equipment manufacturers. Key markets, in addition to the Nordic countries, include Central and Southern Europe, the USA and Canada. Nearly all of the products are manufactured at the plant in Nokia, Finland. Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd is part of the Nokian Tyres Group.
