Swamp Soccer
Nokian Tyres works for a better grip
- even in extreme conditions
The first Finnish Championships in Swamp Soccer were played in 1998, and the first World Championships in 2000. In addition to Finnish teams, participants arrive from England, Holland, Sweden, Russia and other countries.
Swamp soccer differs from traditional soccer in that cleats are not allowed, the pitch is smaller (60 by 35 metres), the match duration is 2 x 10 minutes and the number of players in each team is 1+5.
The 2008 World Championships take place in July in Hyrynsalmi, Finland. So far, a record number of teams have registered: over 340 teams are expected to participate. Nokian Tyres participates as sponsor.
